What is FRLS?
FRLS = Flame Retardant Low Smoke. During electrical fault: does not catch fire easily, produces minimal toxic smoke — critical for rooftop safety.
🔥 Why it matters: Solar DC runs up to 600V. Poor wires degrade under UV, heat, moisture — serious fire risk within 3–5 years.
Why Aluminium is Dangerous
- Expands/contracts more than copper — connections loosen over time
- Higher resistance — generates more heat, reduces efficiency
- Corrodes at terminals — arcing and fire hazard
The CCA Trap
CCA (Copper Clad Aluminium) wires look exactly like copper outside but have aluminium core. Many vendors pass them as pure copper.
